Guruvayoor

Is one of the most important pilgrimage centres of India. It is a sacred temple which is famous for its sculptures or rituals. A visit to this temple is a must if you are planning to see the grandeur of the temple. The best time to visit this temple is during the monsoon months, when the elephants get one month of intensive Ayurveda treatments or pleasure massages which is an amazing treat for the tourists. The temple is also regarded as far as arts is concerned and the temple race which is held before the festival is also an interesting trend as far as tourists are concerned.

Sabarimala

This temple is famous for Lord Ayappan, believed to be the son of Lord Shiva or Vishnu. It is a saint god believed to be in mediation and gives darshan only for 41 days in a year which is from the 16th or 17th of November to the last week of December. It is considered to be second largest pilgrimage centre of the world as nearly 300 million devotees from all over the world touch base here. It is one of the crowded places in terms of pilgrimage. The temple is located on top of a hill and female devotees are also allowed in. 

Padmanabha Temple

Is located in the heart of the city and in this place there is a unique form of Lord Vishnu. This temple has an important role in the history of the country as lord Padmanabha was crowned the Emperor of Travancore in the 17th century and the temple belongs to the Royal family of Travancore. He is also preserved in the premises of the temple, though people are not allowed to visit it. The palace guards are the guardians of the temple and many values need to be followed if you are planning to visit the temple.
